Zheng Weitong, born in Chengdu, Sichuan in 1994, is a two-time national individual champion - in 2014 and 2015 - and the 2015 world champion, crowned in Munich, named a grandmaster in 2014. He took men’s individual gold at the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games and the National Games title in 2021.
Nicknamed the 'Young Knight of Mount Shu' for his Sichuan roots, he was for years ranked number two in China, and was admitted to Tsinghua University in 2020. The game here catches him early in his rise, already showing the class that would soon take him to the top of the game.

Zheng Weitong, who would go on to become one of the greatest players of the modern era with multiple world and national titles, takes Black here in 2008 - a glimpse of a future king of the game early in his rise.
