The player
蒋川 (Jiang Chuan) was born in Yongjia, Zhejiang, on 26 January 1984, and became a master in 2002 with an eighth place. He took the rapid silver at the first World Mind Sports Games in 2008, then won the national individual championship in 2010 and received the grandmaster title with it. In 2011 he won the world individual championship in Jakarta. He was one of the game's great blindfold players, and that year his blindfold simultaneous against twenty boards broke 柳大华 (Liu Dahua)'s record.
Over 612 archive games he scored 68.3% as Red and 59.5% as Black. He met two players more often than anyone else, Lü Qin and 汪洋 (Wang Yang), 27 games each.

Jiang Chuan, who later won the national title and set a blindfold record, has Red against Lü Qin in the league. He opens with the Central Cannon and plays it with the clarity his game was known for.
